FC Sheriff clinched their eighth successive Moldovan league title after winning 4-0 away to FC Tiligul Tiraspol on Friday.
Aleksei Kuchuk scored twice for the champions with Aleksandr Erokhin and Sergei Alekseev also on the scoresheet as Sheriff reclaimed their crown with four games to spare. The victory took Sheriff level with FC Zimbru Chisinau as the most successful side in Moldova, both having won the title eight times.
In the 17-year history of the national league since independence in 1992, only one other club has won the title, FC Konstruktorul Chisinau in 1997. Leonid Kuchuk's side will once again represent Moldova in the UEFA Champions League, while FC Dacia Chisinau, FC Tiraspol and FC Nistru Otaci are all vying along for a UEFA Cup place with Zimbru.
