FK Austria Wien captain Jocelyn Blanchard faces an extended absence after tearing a muscle in his right thigh during his team's 2-0 league defeat at FC Salzburg on Sunday.
The 35-year-old will undergo surgery, with club physio Christoph Ogris saying: "This kind of injury is extremely rare. I have not seen anything similar in the past five years here." Frenchman Blanchard has played 31 Bundesliga games this season, scoring twice.
