On Sunday it was announced in Glasgow that Celtic’s midfielder Aiden McGeady was named as Scotland’s Player of the Year as well as the Young Player of the Year.

The announcement was made by the Scottish Footballers’ Association.

McGeady becomes only the second player to have won both awards in the same year. The first was his Celtic team mate Shaun Maloney two years ago.

Other awards made were Manager of the Year which went to Billy Reid of Hamilton Academicals whose team have made it into the Scottish Premier League and a Special Award that went to the late Phil O’Donnell of Motherwell.
