MUNICH, Germany (AFP) - Bayern Munich captain Oliver Kahn admitted he had never seen anything like it as two goals deep in extra-time by Italian striker Luca Toni put his side in the UEFA Cup semi-finals after a 3-3 draw at Getafe on Thursday.

Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni saved Bayern Munich's blushes against courageous 10-man Getafe with a breath-taking equaliser in the 120th minute - his tenth in the competition this season - which broke Spanish hearts.

With time almost up and Bayern 3-2 down, Kahn sprinted from his goal into the Getafe penalty area and put pressure on the defence for Jose Sosa to whip in a cross which Toni headed home to begin the Germans' celebrations.

"It's like I said in the dressing room: I've probably played 140 times in Europe, against Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid, but that'll all be nothing compared to what we we've just been through," said the vastly experienced Kahn, 38, who has been at Bayern since 1994.

"When we meet up again in ten years' time, we won't be talking about Real and United, we'll talk about Getafe.

"I can't remember ever having seen or played in a game quite like that.

"I've never before let in three goals and still gone through.

"I don't know what to say, and I've already been through a lot in Europe."

The 4-4 aggregate result meant Bayern book their semi-final place against Zenit St Petersburg, but it was heart-break for the Spanish who were down to ten-men after just six minutes but produced a heroic performance.

Despite going 3-1 down on the night in the opening minutes of extra time Toni's double put the Germans through on away goals.

Romanian Cosmin Contra's late away goal for Getafe in Munich last week gave the Spaniards from the Madrid suburbs hope of adding Bayern to a list of victims this season that includes Anderlecht, AEK Athens and Tottenham.

But their prospects looked bleak when the aptly named midfielder Ruben de la Red was sent off by Swiss referee Massimo Busacca for a challenge on Miroslav Klose in the opening minutes.

The numerical diasdvantage failed to stop the European debutants from going 1-0 up on the night and 2-1 up on aggregate one minute from the break.

Bayern's French star Franck Ribery took the game into extra time with an equaliser as late as the 89th minute, but the Spaniards scored twice in two minutes early in extra-time to make it 3-1 before Toni scored in the 115th and 120th minute.

"Coming back after going 3-1 down in extra-time rates as a terrific performance and speaks volumes for the team's morale," said Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.

"Obviously we rode our luck too.

"We made life difficult for ourselves, but Getafe kept it very tight, we didn't have much by way of chances.

"My players earned their place in the next round by fighting for it."

Bayern now play St Petersburg in the semi-final at Munich's Allianz Arena on Thursday April 24 with the return leg in Russia on May 1.
