Kasimpasa beat Gençlerbirligi Oftas in fight against relegation
ANKARA, Apr 5 (SW) - Kasimpasa Istanbul have kept their hopes alive with an unexpected 1-0 over Gençlerbirligi Oftas in Ankara.
Currently placed 18th in the Turkcell Süper Lig, Kasimpasa had to take their chance at Gençlerbirligi Oftas, 8th in the league.
The home side hoped to take three points from this game, allowing them to move closer to the top.
But after only ten minutes in Turkey's capital city, it was Kasimpasa's Askou to open the score. Gençlerbirligi Oftas failed to react and allowed their guests to walk away with the victory.
Kasimpasa now have 22 points from 29 matches, and have to hope for bad performances by the other relegation candidates, Caykur Rizespor and Manisaspor.
Next week's clash with Manisaspor may consequently decide which team should start preparing for the Lig A.
