ISTANBUL, Apr 3 (SW) - Turkish side Fenerbahçe have broken a new record in the Champions League. The team now has the biggest amount of own goals scored in one season.

In the quarter final match with Chelsea on Wednesday, Deivid de Souza beat his own goalkeeper to give their guests the lead. The same player would also score the winning goal, a bit more than an hour later, and went from zero to hero.

Edu Dracena however, had already done this twice before in this Champions League. Goalkeeper Volkan Demirel had the honour of picking the ball out of the net during the games with CSKA Moscow and Sevilla.

The old record of two own goals in one season was shared by five teams. Panathinaikos 'achieved' the result in 1998-99, followed by Sporting Lisbon, Olympiakos Piraeus, Bayer Leverkusen and Rosenborg.

The total record of own goals in the Champions League, disregarding seasons, is held by 1999 champions Manchester United. The English side scored no less than five own goals in this tournament. Bayer Leverkusen, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid follow at four each.
