SHANGHAI (AFP) - Germany beat Brazil 2-0 to become the first nation to successfully defend the women's World Cup title on Sunday.

Captain Birgit Prinz and Simone Laudehr both scored in the second half and goalkeeper Nadine Angerer saved a penalty as Germany ended the tournament without conceding a goal.
