ROME (AFP) - David Pizarro scored a superb goal five minutes from time to earn Roma a 2-2 at Parma and a place in the last four of the Italian Cup.

The Chilean midfielder equalised with a rasping half-volley to seal a 4-3 quarter-final aggregate score.

The match appeared to be heading for extra-time with Parma leading 2-1, matching Roma´s first leg score at the Olympic stadium last week.

But Pizarro had other ideas, his fierce strike shot from the edge of the box too powerful for Fabio Virgili to save.

Roma will face either AC Milan or second division Arezzo in the semi-finals. Milan take a 2-0 lead to Arezzo on Thursday.

Earlier, Sampdoria won 2-1 at Chievo for a 3-1 aggregate score and a place in the next round. The Genoa club will now face the winner of Wednesday´s late match between holders Inter Milan and Empoli.

Inter, who have a 10-point lead at the top of Serie A, are 2-0 up from the first leg.
