BLACKBURN, England (AFP) - Benni McCarthy is available for Blackburn Rovers's Premier League match with Aston Villa at Ewood Park despite being injured last weekend.

The South Africa striker limped off in the eighth minute of Sunday's 2-2 league draw draw way to Fulham with a gashed leg after an aerial challenge with Dejan Stefanovic at Craven Cottage but has since responded well to treatment.

Matt Derbyshire has passed a fitness test on a thigh injury, midfielder David Dunn is available following suspension and Roque Santa Cruz is back from international duty.

Former Porto star McCarthy, who has scored eight goals this season, had played for the Bafana Bafana in their 1-0 friendly defeat against the USA in Johannesburg the previous weekend.

McCarthy is South Africa's all-time leading scorer with 29 goals in 66 appearances.

Rovers are ninth in the table while City are third, just a point behind local rivals Manchester United and four adrift of leaders Arsenal.
