28 March 2007 22:54

WARCHAW, Mar 28 (SW) - Poland maintain their Euro 2008 Group A lead after a small win over Armenia, while Portugal and Serbia held each other to a 1-1 draw. Finland meanwhile, lost in Azerbaijan.

The match had been underway for 26 minutes when Maciej Zurawski opened the score for the Poles, and the Armenians did not have the strength to fight their way back into the game.

While Poland secured three points and extend their lead in this group, the other important match ended without a winner.

Portugal needed only five minutes to take the lead through Tiago, but Jankovic levelled for the Serbs in the 27th minute.

Finland meanwhile, failed to maintain their second place as the Scandinavians lost 1-0 in Azerbaijan. The only goal came from Emin Imamaliev in the 83rd minute.

Poland have 16 points from seven games, and are on course to end this campaign in first place.

The second place is the scene of a battle between Portugal, Serbia and Finland, who all have eleven points from six games.
