BERLIN (AFP) - Croatian international striker Mladen Petric on Friday agreed a four-year deal to join Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund from Swiss outfit Basel.

"I'm delighted with the challenge presented by Dortmund because it's an important step in my career," said the 26-year-old after signing the deal until June 20, 2011.

The transfer is estimated to be in the region of 3.5 million euros (4.7 million dollars).

Petric has scored 19 goals in 25 league games for Basel, who won the Swiss Cup last season.

He won the Swiss national title in 2003 with Grasshopper Zurich, where he played from 1999 to 2004.
