Confident Mexico face Ecuador

1 July 2007 15:21

MATURÍN, Jul 1 (SW) - Only days after losing the Gold Cup final to the United States, Mexico was in seventh heaven following a 2-0 win over Brazil. Ecuador will be aiming to change Mexico's mood once again on Sunday.

The Mexicans were clearly the stronger side against a lacklustre Brazil, and did well to take advantage and earn the full three points.

This should give Hugo Sánchez' side confidence ahead of their second Copa America clash against Ecuador.

Ahead of this tournament, Ecuador were seen as an outsider for the final victory. Against Chile they seemed to be on schedule but two late goals eventually gave the Chileans the victory.

Ecuador, led by coach Luis Fernando Suárez, will need to take this second chance against Mexico or face a possibly early elimination.

The match will be played in the city of Maturín, 18:20 (6:20pm) local time, following the game between Brazil and Chile.
