Grygera to join Juve on busy day of transfers

30 January 2007 19:24

ROME (AFP) - Czech Republic international Zdenek Grygera has agreed to join Serie B promotion hopefuls Juventus for the start of next season, his agent said.

In an interview with Czech newspaper Sport, Zdenek Nehoda said the 26-year-old defender will next week sign a five-year contract with the Turin giants but will remain with Dutch club Ajax until the current season ends.

Grygera was due to join Juventus last year before the Italian match-fixing scandal broke which resulted in the club being thrown into the second division.

Elsewhere, Serie A leaders Inter Milan loaned 19-year-old Tunisian international midfielder Tijani Belaid to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven until the end of the season.

Belaid began his career in France with Paris St Germain before joining Inter in 2004, but has never played in Serie A.

Palermo, currently lying third in Serie A, signed 25-year-old Polish striker Radoslaw Matusiak from Belchatow on a three-year contract.

Matusiak, who is reported to have cost the Sicilian club three million euros, has made five international appearances for Poland.

The January transfer window closes on Wednesday.
