DUSSELDORF, Germany (AFP) - European football´s governing body made more than 32 million euros profit during the 2005/06 season, mainly due to its flagship competition the European Champions League.

UEFA announced in its financial report, to be presented on Friday at their congress in Dusseldorf, a net profit of exactly 32.428 million euros for a turnover of 700.448 million euros.

Solidarity payments, made by UEFA to some of its smallest federations and to certain clubs, rose to 123.351 million euros.

The biggest source of revenue was easily television rights worth 481.370 million euros, with sponsors accounting for 116.643 million. In comparison, ticket sales for the Champions League final were worth 1.622 million euros.
