Footballer LuaLua arrested on suspicion of assault

PORTSMOUTH, England (AFP) - Portsmouth star Lomana LuaLua has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an alleged incident in which police were called to his home in the early hours, Britain´s domestic news agency.

The captain of the Democratic Republic of Congo was arrested at 1.50am after police were called to his home in the port city on England´s south coast, according to Britain´s domestic news agency, the Press Association (PA) Friday

A police spokesman confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. "He is currently helping police with their inquiries," the spokesman said.

LuaLua, 26, was detained by police on October 5 last year following what was reported as a domestic dispute with his partner. He was subsequently released without charge.

Portsmouth spokesman Gary Double said the club was looking into what had happened. LuaLua has not played for the club for the last six weeks because of a thigh injury.
