Montenegro agree Hungarian opposition in debut

16 January 2007 21:44

PODGORICA, Jan 16 (SW) - Hungary, on Monday, agreed to play Montenegro in a March 24 friendly that will be the Balkan side's first international friendly as an independent nation.

Montenegro, who were admitted as provisional UEFA members in October of last year, will play the Hungarians in their capital city of Podgorica, although they have not yet appointed a national team coach.

Despite not having a coach, rumors have circulated that former Benfica and Boavista player Zoran Filipovic is in line to take over the Sokoli.

Montenegro is expected to be made a full member of UEFA later this month when the general congress of the European football governing body convenes.
