Cadamarteri makes headlines for right reasons

LEICESTER, England (AFP) - Danny Cadamarteri, seeking to rebuild his career at Leicester after serving a six-months drugs ban, grabbed the headlines for the right reasons by earning his side an FA Cup replay with Fulham.

The 27-year-old, who was seen as a future star when he emerged as a teenager at Everton, secured a 2-2 draw for the Foxes with a close-range finish after the outstanding Levi Porter had got in behind the Fulham back four and delivered a threatening cross.

It was no more than Leicester deserved after dominating much of the match, although Fulham will feel they should have killed off a game in which they twice led.

American forward Brian McBride had given the visitors the lead, midway through the second half, running on to Michael Brown´s pass before finishing confidently.

The goal prompted Fulham boss Chris Coleman to introduce Italian striker Vincenzo Montella, signed on loan earlier this week, for his club debut.

But it was the home side who found the net, Australian Patrick Kisnorbo getting his head to a James Wesolowski cross with ten minutes left.

Three minutes later, Moritz Volz, currently operating in the Fulham midfield, restored the Premiership club´s lead with a fine strike from the edge of the area.

The German defender then squandered an 89th-minute chance that could have wrapped things up for Fulham and Cadamarteri ensured that the top flight outfit paid a heavy price for that miss.

The forward has been signed by Leicester until the end of the season having had his contract with former club Bradford terminated after a doping test found traces of the banned stimulant ephedrine in his system.
