GLASGOW (AFP) - Thomas Sowunmi's first goal for Hibernian saw the Edinburgh club into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 win away to Queen of the South on Saturday.

The Hungary international, who signed as a free agent this month, netted the winner after the home side's John O'Neill had cancelled out David Murphy's opener.

Victory allowed Hibernian to contemplate the prospect of completing a Cup double at Hampden in May, having already booked their place in next month's League Cup final with Kilmarnock.

Dunfermline joined them in the last four of the Scottish Cup after a 2-0 home win against Partick, two headed goals from Stephen Simmons seeing the Pars, without a win in 13 league games but knockout conquerors of Rangers and Hearts, in to the semi-finals.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle play Scottish champions elect Celtic on Sunday with the quarter-finals completed on Wednesday by Motherewell's match at home to St Johnstone.
