LONDON (AFP) - Former Germany and Scotland boss Berti Vogts has said he had officially agreed to coach Nigeria until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
"My task is to lead Nigeria to the 2008 Africa Nations Cup and to the 2010 World Cup finals," Vogts said in London, where he watched Nigeria´s 4-1 defeat to Ghana in a friendly match on Tuesday.
The 60-year-old, who has been in talks with Nigerian officials for several weeks, said he had agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Vogts coached Germany from 1990 to 1998, guiding the team to the 1996 European title. He played in Germany´s 1974 World Cup-winning squad.
