JOHANNESBURG, Apr 28 (SW) - The once proud and premier team in South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs took another step towards failing to make the top eight at the end of the season.

The traditional derby between the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates was played at the Ellis Park Rugby Stadium in central Johannesburg before a packed stadium.

The first half belonged to Kaizer Chiefs who dominated proceedings.

It came as no surprise however when Ivorian striker Serge Djihoua struck an unstoppable volley into the back of the net just two minutes before the break.

A missed opportunity to increase the lead in the sixtieth minute when Arthur Zwane had his shot hit the underside of the cross bar and bounce back into play also heralded Pirates path back into the match.

Three minutes later lucky Lekgwathi saw his shot take a slight deflection into the back of the Chiefs net.

It was left to South Africa’s and Chiefs goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez to keep parity as a fantastic save kept Chiefs alive.
