The Kashima Antlers have revealed that Atsushi Yanagisawa, seen here in 2006, will be out for three months after breaking a bone in his left foot.

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's former international striker Atsushi Yanagisawa will be out for three months after breaking a bone in his left foot, the Kashima Antlers said Monday.

Yanagisawa, who used to play with Italian side Messina and was a member of Japan's squad in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, scored twice in Kashima's 2-1 win over Shimizu S-Pulse on Saturday.

But he was sidelined in the 68th minute for what initially appeared to be a bruise.

The 29-year-old striker was scheduled to go to hospital later Monday for an operation soon, Kashima said.
