FRANKFURT, Oct 19 (SW) – Kolbotn IL have reached the semi finals of the UEFA Women’s Cup after an amazing game at the Brentanobad stadium in Frankfurt. Home squad FFC Frankfurt was in front 3-0, but Solveig Gulbrandsen and Isabell Herlovsen surprisingly scored the Norwegian two goals that made them go through on the away goals rule.
A historic win for Kolbotn IL who reach the semifinals and also a historical defeat for Germany, since both their teams don't come further then the semifinals. It was FFC Frankfurt that started well with a goal of Sandra Smisek. The Kolbotn defence had problems with the tempo of Smisek, who went through on the left side and tipped in the ball from eight metres. After the goal it was Kolbotn coming back into the game, but FFC Frankfurt still getting the best changes. Just after the break Petra Wimbersky scored the second goal. After a Kolbotn-mistake she got hold of the ball and went through in a similar way as the first goal leaving Lise Beate Bye (Kolbotn) changeless. Eight minutes later it was Smisek who scored her second giving FFC Frankfurt a comfortable lead. But the German team looked satisfied too early. Kolbotn saw their change and scored the 3-1 by Norwegian nationalteam player Solveig Gulbrandsen. A ball came back from the penalty area and Gulbrandsen shot it in from 17 metres, leaving Silke Rottenberg without a change. More energy came loose and just two minutes later it was Isabell Herlovsen who ran through the Frankfurter defence scoring the surprising 3-2. At that moment Kolbotn was virtually in the semifinal on the away goals rule. In the end of the game Kolbotn and FFC Frankfurt got changes. Lise Beate Bye saved on a shot in the left corner and Rottenberg stopped Isabell Herlovsen who came through the defence in a counter-attack. But in the end it stayed 3-2, giving Kolbotn the historic semifinal. FFC Frankfurt - Kolbotn IL 3-2 (1-0) Attendance: 2,480 Goals: 8. Sandra Smisek 1-0, 50. Petra Wimbersky 2-0, 58. Sandra Smisek 3-0, 66. Solveig Gulbrandsen 3-1, 67. Isabell Herlovsen 3-2 |
