HAMBURG, May 4 (SW) - Having already qualified for the champions league next year and occupying 2nd place in the league, Hamburg have now secured the contract's of two players.
It was only in October of last year, that Hamburg midfielder Guy Demel had received a four match ban for gross unsporting conduct. However both the club and the player have put that incident behind them and Demel has now signed a new deal that will keep him with the club until June 2010.
As there had been some debate over the Ivory Coast player's future he was keen comment on his new contract, stating, "From the very start I always felt that Hamburg had faith in me and I am looking forward to future success with the club"
Dutch international Khalid Boulahrouz has also signed until 2010, after previously claiming he would leave the club, if his defensive partner Daniel van Buyten was sold. The 24 year old has now decided against this and told the club's official website, "I feel comfortable at this club. We have a great team, a fantastic coach and a great working environment"
Hamburg beat Fc Cologne 1-0 this weekend taking there league points total to 68. Rafael Van Der Vaart remains the club's leading scorer this season, with 16 goals in all competitions.
