VALENCIA, May 25 (SW) - Primera División side Valencia CF have signed forward Fernando Morientes of Liverpool.
The 30 year old Morientes joined the Reds in January of 2005, but scored only 16 goals in 61 appearances and was left out of Spain's squad for the upcoming World Cup.
The striker was more successful at Real Madrid, where he played from 1997 to 2003. In 2004, he spent a year on loan at Monaco, after which he briefly returned to Madrid before moving to England.
Valencia were looking for an extra forward after the somewhat disappointing season of Dutchman Patrick Kluivert.
