DNIPROPETROSVK, Aug 26 (SW) – Long time coach of Ukranian First Division side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, Yevgeny Kucherevsky, was killed in a motor accident on his way to watch his club’s reserve team on Saturday.

He had apparently lost control of his Mercedes and collided head on with an oncoming truck.

He died on his way to hospital.

Kucherevsky guided Dnipro to the Soviet league title in 1988 before taking on various coaching jobs in his native Ukraine and Russia. He was in charge of Russia's Olympic team in the mid-1990s.

Last year he resigned as Dnipro coach to become the club's sporting director.
