GLASGOW, Apr 3 (SW) - Rangers FC striker Dado Prso is confident that the third place Glasgow club will pass Hearts of Midlothian, claiming the second spot in the Scottish Premier League and entry to the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Edinburgh-based Hearts had a 16-point lead over Rangers in December, but that gap has shrunken to just three points following Rangers’ decisive 4-1 victory at Dundee United on Sunday. Hearts, who reached the Scottish Cup final on Sunday afternoon, have a game in hand, but face league leaders Celtic on Wednesday.
"We have put pressure on them and it is only a matter of time until we go past them,” Prso said.
"I am convinced we will pass Hearts now. It is very important that we play in the Champions League and that is the big target for us.”
Rangers are desperate to return to the Champions League after narrowly failing to reach this year’s quarterfinals. But elimination at the hands of Villarreal in the Round of 16 has given Rangers a boost as they seek to pass Hearts, Prso said.
"We are playing better football. We are not in the Champions League anymore so we only have one game each week and more time to recover from those games.
"It's much easier than traveling and coming back at 4 a.m. and then playing three days later."
