EDINBURGH, Sep 6 (SW) - David Weir will make his 50th appearance for Scotland tonight, becoming one of a select few to reach the milestone for Scotland

The Scots, fresh off a 6-0 drubbing of the Faroe Islands in the opening match of their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, travel to face a Lithuania side emboldened by its shock 1-1 draw with World Cup holders Italy.

And with Barry Ferguson absent due to injury, Weir will make his 50th appearance as skipper, an honour the player is looking forward to.

"I must admit I never thought I'd get to 50 caps, but if I play I will be delighted,” the 36-year-old Everton player said.

"I really haven't thought about it, but the fact that there are only 25 players on the list makes it a real honour to join them.

"There are some great names on there already, including Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness. That is great company to be in and I'm very proud.

"I've been lucky in my career with the way things have panned out and I have enjoyed every minute of it, but hopefully I still have some good memories to come."
