ST. PETERSBURG, Sep 4 (SW) – Danish winger Dennis Rommedahl saw a move to Russian outfit Zenit collapse before the closing of the transfer window last week. The Charlton player does not figure in manager Iain Dowie's plans, judging from his one appearance as a sub this season.

According to the Russian club’s director of football, Konstantin Sarsaniya, the club is still interested in signing the Addick winger, possibly in January.

“We were very close getting Rommedahl,” he said.

“But unfortunately we lost the last opportunity to get him this summer.

“Dennis wants to try his first team chances at Charlton during the next six months. But we will be back in the winter I suppose.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Kamil Contofalsky signed a new two-and-a-half year deal at Zenit. The Slovakian was linked with a move to England last month
