MADRID, Sept 29 (SW) – Speaking at a news conference here today Barcelona’s coach and former Dutch international Frank Rijkaard said that Barcelona will definitely miss their injured Cameroonian striker, Samuel Eto’o. This is despite the long list of options available to fill Samuel’s place.
He added that this will not be the first time that they would have been without their star player. Earlier in the year he was away for close to a month doing duty for Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations.
Samuel Eto’o joins a long list of stars that were injured this week in either the Champions League matches or the UEFA Cup matches.
He will be out for approximately five months with a torn meniscus in his right knee. He picked up the injury in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Werder Bremen. The match ended 1 – 1.
It is likely that he will miss the next twenty Spanish Primera League matches, the remaining group matches in the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
