ADELAIDE, Sep 21 (SW) – Former Brazilian international Romario could be ready to continue his career with Adelaide United in the Australian A-League.

The veteran forward is chasing the magical 1000 goals mark in his career, and the striker’s father has confirmed a move is close.

"He wants to accept the deal," said Romario’s father, Edevair.

"He's very keen to play in Australia's top league and wants Adelaide to help him get closer to his 1000th goal."

The player also revealed he had been in discussions with Adelaide’s current Brazilian star Fernando Rech over the proposed move.

"Fernando told me to come to paradise and not to think twice about coming to Adelaide," admitted Romario.

"I only hear good things about Adelaide.

"I heard that Adelaide is in third place and six points behind Melbourne."

But there appears to be more than just football which is appealing to the striker about a move Down Under.

"Kangaroos and sharks. I want to see them and that's another good reason not to retire."

Former national colleague, and current Brazilian coach Dunga gave his vote of support to his friend.

"He's keen to go to Australia.

"He's always a surprise.

"So why not show off the real Brazilian way in Australia?"
