Djorkaeff retires

NEW YORK, Oct 30 (Sw) - Former France star Youri Djorkaeff has announced he will retire from the game. The 38-year-old ends his career in New York.

Djorkaeff played an important part in France's 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 wins. The midfielder ends with 82 caps and 28 international goals.

The 38-year-old played started his career in Grenoble, and would play for Inter, joined Bolton in 2002 and after a spell at Balckburn ended up with the New York Red Bulls this season.

"The time has come to call it a day. I can cope physically, but mentally it is getting harder and harder," Djorkaeff explained to ESPN.
