AS Monaco slip down to bottom spot

29 October 2006 11:46

PARIS, Oct 29 (SW) – AS Monaco’s season goes progressively from bad to worse.

In the past week AS Monaco parted ways with coach Laszlo Boloni, lost their League Cup fixture against Ligue 2 side Stade Reims, lost their latest Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes by 1 – 0 and had Jaroslav Plasil sent off in the first half for a second yellow card.

The result has left Monaco bottom of Ligue 1 while Nantes, previous occupiers of bottom place, move up to 17th.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 27th minute by Argentinean striker Julio Hernan Rossi.

Desperate for a win, both teams had made a shocking start to the season. Between both Nantes and AS Monaco they have won fifteen Ligue 1 titles.

It was a mere two years ago that AS Monaco played in the UEFA Champions League final.
