Lennart Johansson: "I'll sort out this mess!"

BRUSSELS, Oct 19 (SW) – Head of Europe’s soccer governing body UEFA, Lennart Johansson said that if he id re – elected as head he will pursue a hard line in combating the financial irregularities, the issue of match – fixing and implementing a stricter set of rules governing players’ agents.

Swede Johansson has held his current post for sixteen years.

Opposing him in the election, which is due to be held in Düsseldorf at the end of January 2007 during UEFA’s congress, is former French superstar Michel Platini.

If re – elected he will be in constant contact with EU politicians in an effort to stamp out the evils associated with European football.

He is likely to clash with the International Olympic Committee as well as FIFA President, Sepp Blatter.
