ALKMAAR, Oct 1 (SW) - AZ Alkmaar were held to a 2-2 draw by ADO Den Haag on Sunday and lose their first position in the Eredivisie to Ajax.

A week after losing to PSV, ADO were a stronger side in Alkmaar and scored the opening goal through Richard Knopper after only five minutes.

Danny Koevemans levelled in the tenth minute but Michael Mols put ADO back ahead in the 34th.

Kew Jaliens would save a point for AZ in the 69th minute but it was not enough for Louis van Gaal's side to maintain their top spot. AZ now have 14 points in the Dutch league, which is one less than Ajax.
