Scotland: Celtic held by Aberdeen, Rangers beat Hearts

ABERDEEN, May 7 (SW) - Celtic were held to a 2-2 draw by Aberdeen while Rangers defeated Hearts on the final matchday of the Scottish Premier League.
Championship group (Sunday) Aberdeen - Celtic 2-2 Champions Celtic took a comfortable lead with goals from John Hartson in the fifth minute and Maloney in the 61st, but allowed Aberdeen to come back as Stewart scored in the 69th and 72nd minutes, 2-2. Rangers - Hearts 2-0 Hearts had already secured their second place on the penultimate matchday. Rangers had some pride to fight for however, and won thanks to two gals from Kris Boyd in the 36th and 74th minutes. Kilmarnock - Hibernian 3-1 Kilmarnock defeated Hibs with goals from Naismith (penalty), Greer and Nish, after the visitors had taken an early lead through Fletcher. Hibernian finished with only nine players on the pitch as both Murphy and Malkowski were sent off. Relegation Group (Saturday) Dunfermline - Inverness 0-1 Inverness finished their season with a 0-1 win at Dunfermline. The only goal of the match came from Morgan in the 53rd minute. Motherwell - Dundee United 1-1 Motherwell and Dundee United held each other to a 1-1 draw, with the hosts taking the lead through Hamilton on the hour mark and Samuel equalizing for Dundee in the 86th minute. Falkirk - Livingston 1-0 Livingston finish last in the Premier League and will not be appearing in this division next season. At Falkirk, the final result was 1-0 thanks to a goal from McBreen in the 74th minute. |
