Malaga held Barcelona to a 0-0 draw at home (SW)

MALAGA, Mar 25 (SW) – Barcelona slipped up away to the bottom placed side in La Liga by drawing at Malaga, but Osasuna and Villarreal failed to pick up any points at all against their opposition.

Malaga – Barcelona 0-0

Barcelona omitted Ronaldinho and Deco from the team to face Malaga, and it was the lowly placed side that were given the praise at the end of the match as they staved off the current table-toppers to claim a hard earned point.

Athletic Bilbao – Osasuna 1-0

Osasuna failed to capitalise on Barcelona’s failure to score maximum points at Malaga by suffering a defeat at the hands of Bilbao. Luis Preto scored the only goal of the game to give the home side the points and lift them well away from the danger zone.

Villarreal – Real Betis 1-2

Villarreal followed in Barcelona’s and Osasuna’s footsteps by failing to take maximum points from lower placed opposition. Robert scored both Betis goals within the first 25 minutes and a 79th minute strike by Juan Pablo Sorin wasn’t enough to pull the home side back into contention.
