LIÈGE, Mar 19 (SW) - Standard Liège remain a single point adrift of Anderlecht at the top of the Jupiler League after both sides recorded victories in weekend action.
Standard Liège - Racing Genk 1-0
At the time, Standard went two points clear at the top of the league after a solitary first-half gave them a victory over Genk.
Romanian international Marius Niculae put the home side in front just before the half-hour mark and Standard held on to claim the victory.
Zulte-Waregem - Lierse 0-1
Zulte-Waregem are still fourth in the league despite being beaten at home by lowly Lierse, who are still in danger of relegation despite the win.
The lone goal of the match was scored after only three minutes were played when Kristof Imschoot found the back of the Zulte-Waregem net.
Anderlecht - Beveren 4-0
Anderlecht regained their one-point league lead on Saturday as they cruised to an easy win over Beveren thanks to goals from four different players.
Pär Zetterberg's penalty put Anderlecht in front on 23 minutes and Christian Wilhelmsson doubled the lead just three minutes later.
Nicolás Frutos added a third with 15 minutes to play and Turkish international Serhat Akin made it four to the home side at the end.
Westerlo - Club Brugge 0-0
Club Brugge are four points out of first place and three behind Standard after they were held to a goalless stalemate.
Westerlo, who now sit seventh in the table, still have an outside chance of securing a European spot.
Germinal - Excelsior Mouscron 1-0
With Excelsior still in the mix in a very tight relegation battle in Belgium, they were beaten away by Germinal on Saturday.
Mario Cvitanovic's goal in the 25th minute secured victory for the home side.
Charleroi - Lokeren 3-1
Runar Kristinsson gave Lokeren the lead in the 13th minute, but François Sterchele equalized for Charleroi just six minutes later.
Akgul Izzet put Charleroi into the lead after 79 minutes and Fabien Camus added the insurance goal just before the final whistle.
Cercle Brugge - FC Brussels 0-1
Cercle Brugge's fight against relegation took a hit after being beaten at home by FC Brussels.
Zoltan Peto's goal in the 29th minute was all the visitors needed to secure victory.
La Louivère - Roeselare 0-0
La Louvière sit bottom of the league standings after being held to a goalless home draw by Roeselare.
The club mired in the Belgian match-fixing scandal in danger of being relegated although the bottom six teams are all within four points of each other.
Gent - Sint-Truiden 1-0
The weekend action in Belgium closed on Sunday as Gent stayed in line for a berth in European competition with victory over Sint-Truiden.
Sint-Truiden, who have also been implicated in the scandal, were beaten by a solitary Davy de Beule goal in the 27th minute.
