Belgium: Standard fail to take the lead in Eerste Klasse

LOKEREN, Mar 12 (SW) - Standard Liege should have taken the lead in the Belgian Eerste Klasse, but Anderlecht maintained their lead as no goals were scored in Lokeren.

Friday:

Sint-Truiden - Anderlecht 3-0

League leaders Anderlecht crashed to a shock defeat at Sint-Truiden on Friday. The first two goals were scored by Desire M'Bonabucva in the 65th and 80th minutes, and a third was added by Tamas Hajnal in the 87th.

Saturday:

Club Brugge - Charleroi 2-1

The action continued on Saturday, with Club Brugge beating Charleroi 2-1. Joos Valgaeren's own goal put the visitors in the lead after 11 minutes, but things were turned around by Gert Verheyen in the 31st minute and Javier Portillo in the 77.

Roeselare - Zulte-Waregem 0-3

Zulte-Waregem impressed with a 0-3 victory at Roeselare. Sylvio Breleur opened the score in the 15th minute, and late goals from Stijn Meert (78th) and Tim Matthys (82nd) left the hosts without a chance.

Genk - Germinal Beerschot 1-0

A single goal from Orlando Engelaar in the 54th minute was enough for Genk to earn three points against Germinal Beerschot.

Lierse - Gent 1-3

Mujanovic put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute but the lead would not stand as Christophe Gregoire levelled for Gent in the 32nd. Dominic Foley added a second, two minutes after the break, and a third came from Wouter Vrancken in the 79th minute.

Beveren - Westerlo 3-1

Beveren were the stronger side against Westerlo and Mahamadou Dissa opened the score after 18 minutes. Coco netted a second in the 74th and the third and last goal came from Dissa, just one minute later. Westerlo's only goal was scored by Peter Utaka in the 83rd minute.

FC Brussels - La Louviere 0-0

No goals were scored at FC Brussels versus La Louviere, due to which the visitors continue to risk relegation. La Louviere are now 17th, three points behind 15th-placed Sint-Truiden.

Mouscron - Cercle Brugge 6-0

Cercle Brugge never stood a chance against an inspired Excelsior Mouscron. An own goal from Jan Masureel in the 26th minute was only the start. Steve Dugardein netted a second in the 38th minute and Marcin Zewlakow got a hat-trick with goals in the 58th, 60th and 88th minutes. Karim Fellahi added another in stoppage time.

Sunday:

Lokeren - Standard Liege 0-0

Standard Liege could have taken the lead in the Jupiler League but the Wallon side failed to score against Lokeren. Anderlecht continue to lead with 52 points, with Standard now following at 51.
