MADRID, Mar 26 (SW) - Real Madrid leapfrogged Osasuna into second place on Sunday by sending a message with a drubbing of Deportivo. Valencia, meanwhile, fell to defeat at Sevilla.

Real Madrid - Deportivo La Coruña 4-0

Héctor put into his own net after ten minutes to give Madrid the lead before Brazilian striker Ronaldo doubled the advantage at 2-0 in the 37th minute.

In the 70th minute, full-back Sérgio Ramos made it 3-0 to the home side, and the rout was completed in the 83rd minute as Julio Baptista found the back of the net.

Sevilla - Valencia 1-0

Sevilla pulled within two points of the final Champions League spot currently occupied by Valencia after they defeated them at the Sánchez Pizjuan stadium.

Valencia were reduced to ten men in the 76th minute when Roberto Ayala was dismissed, and Jordi López grabbed the winner at the death for Sevilla.

Celta de Vigo - Mallorca 2-0

Celta kept up their hopes of grabbing a spot in the Champions League with a vital win over Mallorca at Estádio Balaídos.

Pablo Contreras gave the Galician side the lead after just seven minutes and Fernando Baiano doubled the advantage in the 21st minute to move them within five points of the fourth spot in the league.

Cádiz - Atlético Madrid 1-1

Coming off of the midweek debacle at home against Sevilla, Atlético Madrid surrendered a lead in the second half as Cádiz earned a draw at home.

Striker Mateja Kezman gave Atlético the lead in the 34th minute, but a penalty by Lucas Lobos in the 68th minute earned a share of the spoils for Cádiz.

Getafe - Real Sociedad 2-1

Ten-man Real Sociedad were defeated away to Getafe on Sunday thanks to a winning goal by Daniel Güiza.

Mario Andrés Pernía's penalty in the 19th minute gave Getafe a 1-0 lead, but Mark González leveled for Sociedad just before the break.

Güiza's strike in the 55th minute gave Getafe the 2-1 lead, and Sociedad's comeback attempts were hampered in the 69th minute as John Viafara was sent off for his second bookable offense of the match.

Espanyol - Alavés 0-0

Espanyol and Alavés are still in the talk for relegation after the two sides battled to a goalless draw at Estádio Olímpico in Barcelona.

Espanyol are on 32 points, just one in front of three teams on 31 points, including Alavés, Mallorca and Real Sociedad. Sociedad currently occupy the final spot in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Racing Santander - Zaragoza 0-0

Santander are only a further point ahead of Espanyol in the relegation race after they also played out a scoreless draw, theirs at home against Zaragoza.

Zaragoza are one of the few teams seemingly not in the race for either Europe or relegation in the league, sitting on 38 points in 10th place.
