BERLIN, June 20 (SW) - Asamoah Gyan will not play against the United States after Ghana had their appeal against a yellow card turned down.

Ghana had been attempting to get the booking Gyan received during his side’s victory over the Czech Republic overturned. It was the player’s second yellow card in the tournament and was shown to the 20 year old for taking a penalty before the referee’s whistle.

The Ghanaian FA put a forward a case that showed the player thought the referee had given a signal, but it had been drowned out by the loud noise from the crowd. This was declined by FIFA.

"We appealed on compassionate grounds, but it's not supported by law. We don't need to waste time on this. We need to focus on a replacement," explained Ghana spokesman Randy Abbey.

National team Coach Ratomir Dujkovic will now have to replace both Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari and knows this maybe a difficult task, he commented, "It's very difficult to find another Sulley Muntari in particular. He's exceptional. He defend’s, attacks and creates chances.

Ghana meet the U.S.A in their last group E fixture on Thursday June 22nd.
