ISTANBUL, Jul 26 (SW) - Turkish contenders Fenerbahçe are all but in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after crush B36 Tórshavn 4-0 at home in their first-leg match on Wednesday evening.

The champions from the Faroe Islands were outmatched from the kickoff as Fenerbahçe took the lead on 26 minutes when Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah struck for his first goal of the campaign.

Zico, who was in his first competitive game in charge of Fenerbahçe, saw his team take a 2-0 lead to the break when Turkish international Tümer Metin grabbed a goal five minutes before the half-time interval.

Tuncay Sanli then made it 3-0 in the 54th minute, effectively sealing the match, but Onder Turaci added a fourth goal late on to complete the emphatic win.

Hearts - Siroki Brijeg 3-0
Facing a number of injuries and other absences, Scottish side Hearts still showed their mettle on Wednesday when they rallied for a victory over Bosnian side Siroki Brijeg at Murrayfield.

Hearts were the better side in the first half but were frustrated to see a 0-0 score at the break. That changed in the 53rd minute when Branimir Anic misguided a header off of a throw-in into his own net to gift Hearts the lead.

Ibrahim Tall added to Hearts' lead in the 79th minute when he slid in a cross by Michal Pospisil from close range, and Czech striker Roman Bednar made the most of a poorly-weighted backpass to make it 3-0 five minutes later.

Levski - Sioni 2-0
UEFA Cup semi-finalists a year ago, Bulgarian champions Levski gained the advantage in their first-leg tie, defeating Georgian champions Sioni Bolnisi in Sofia.

Emil Angelov beat the Sioni offside trap in the 20th minute to slot home Levski's opener, and it looked as if that would be all they would take with them to Georgia next week.

However, Angelov was hauled down in the area with eight minutes to go and Bulgarian international Daniel Borimirov stepped up to slot home the insurance goal that could propel the Bulgarians into the next round.

Zürich - Salzburg 2-1
After pipping Basel for a surprise Swiss Super League title last season, FC Zürich earned a slender advantage in the first leg of their tie with Salzburg from neighboring Austria.

Guinea international Alhassane Keita gave Zürich a lead inside the first two minutes of the match, and Clederson César de Souza doubled the advantage in the 20th minute for the home side.

Swiss starlet Johan Vonlanthen then pulled a goal back for Salzburg just after the half-hour, but the Austrians were put on the backfoot when René Aufhauser was sent off just five minutes later.

However, Salzburg with an away goal in hand, need just a 1-0 victory at home next week to join their league champions Austria Wien in the third qualifying round.

FC København - MyPa 2-0
A late goal by Michael Gravgaard gave Danish champions FC København some breathing room as they secured a first-leg victory over Finnish side MyPa.

Andre Bergdolmo's penalty in the 64th minute denied the valiant Finns a clean sheet, but it appeared as if they would hold on for a narrow disadvantage.

However, Gravgaard's injury time strike put the Scandinavians in control ahead of next week's second leg match in Finland.

Djurgården - Ruzomberok 1-0
Swedish champions Djurgården have the smallest of advantages going into their second leg after beating Slovakian side Ruzomberok at the Råsunda stadium in Solna.

After a disappointing opening 45 minutes, the Swedes were better in the second term, although it wasn't until substitute Enrico struck in the 72nd minute that the deadlock was broken.

Ruzomberok will look to be the second Slovakian team in a row to advance in the Champions League after Artmedia ran the table to the group stage last season.

Debrecen - Rabotnicki 1-1
Macedonian champions Rabotnicki hold the advantage after holding Hungarian side Debrecen to a draw away from home with sights set on the third qualifying round.

Rabotnicki, trying to mimic FK Vardar's near-group stage qualification two seasons ago, took a surprise lead as Goran Stankovski struck home in the 43rd minute for a huge away goal.

However, some of that momentum was quickly taken away by the Hungarian champions as Robert Zsolnai equalized in first-half stoppage time to set up a tense second leg in Skopje next week.
