Nowotny happy at Dinamo

ZAGREB, July 25 (SW) - Germany international Jens Nowotny has called his move to Croatian champions NK Dinamo Zagreb the “best option” available to him.

The 32-year-old Nowotny was released from his contract with Bayer Leverkusen at the end of last season following a legal dispute between club and player.

He has signed a three-year deal with the Zagreb club.

"I am happy to be here. I really feel at home and am sure it was the best option to come here," Nowotny said.

"[Dinamo captain] Zoran Mamic is a good friend and the welcome in Zagreb was really great. I am getting to know my new team-mates and I know that many of them are in the Croatian national team."

Dinamo coach Josip Kuze is pleased to have a player of Nowotny’s stature at his disposal.

"Jens is a great player and a great person. I needed someone like him and he will not have long to adapt to life here because I will need him on the pitch very soon."

Dinamo face FK Ekranas of Lithuania in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie tonight.

The return leg is on August 2.
