LISBON, Jul 18 (SW) – Sporting Lisbon striker Mauricio Pinilla is reportedly set to meet with Hearts officials over a potential move to the ambitious Edinburgh outfit.

Hearts have qualified for the preliminary stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League and are looking to bolster their squad in all departments to ensure qualification.

Pinilla has been identified as an attractive option by new Hearts boss Valdas Ivanauskas, and the player himself admits that a move to Scotland has an added advantage.

"It will be good to play in Scotland," said the 22-year-old.

"It is an excellent platform to arrive in English football."

The Chilean is a fantastically gifted player who joined Inter as a teenager in 2003, and was farmed out to Chievo and Celta Vigo for valuable first team experience.

The player then joined Sporting in 2004, and was loaned to Racing Santander in January 2006.

It is expected that the Scottish outfit will face competition from within Spain and Italy for the player’s signature.
