BERLIN, Jul 10 (SW) - The red card given to Zinedine Zidane during the World Cup final on Sunday, came after advice from fourth official Luis Medina Cantalejo.
After the headbutting incident, Gianluigi Buffon ran to the linesman who then discussed the matter with referee Horacio Elizondo.
The decision was based on advise given by Medina, who had watched the images on his personal monitor, the official told Spanish media.
It would have been the first time that video images influence a referee's decision. FIFA have always rejected the idea of using more technology on the pitch.
