COLOGNE, Jan 3 (SW) – Grasshoppers manager Hanspeter Latour has officially been named as FC Cologne’s new coach, following the sacking of Uwe Rapolder last month.
A drastic domestic campaign start (12 points in 17 games) had seen the end of Rapolder's run at Cologne’s helm on December 18th, and the Bundesliga side, currently seating in the relegation zone with a disappointing 16th seat, had been looking for a suitable successor since.
It now seems they have found their man, as Hanspeter Latour was officially unveiled by the Bundesliga side today. The 58-year-old Swiss tactician, who has been one of the reasons of FC Thun’s success (which subsequently led the Super League outfit to a Champions league berth), had since moved on to Zurich’s Grasshoppers.
No doubt the newly-appointed manager will be hoping his wide experience will help Cologne bounce back during the remainder of the season, with the Bundesliga side still looking for their 4th win this term.
