BRUGES, Feb 19 (SW) - Club Brugge and Anderlecht maintained their pace as the top two teams in the Jupiler League with victories over the weekend while third-place Standard hit seven in their win.
Anderlecht - FC Brussels 2-0
Anderlecht briefly went to the top of the league on Friday with a win over city rivals FC Brussels, Nicolas Frutos putting the home side in front just 14 minutes into the action.
The visitors were reduced to ten players just before the interval as Sofiane Zaaboub was dismissed in the 44th minute, and Pär Zetterberg put the game out of reach in the 66th minute to make the score 2-0.
Standard Liège - Cercle Brugge 7-1
Standard sit just one point back of the leaders with a game in hand after running rampant on Cercle on Saturday.
Milan Rapaic fired Standard in front just five minutes in and Igor De Camargo doubled the lead in the 22nd minute before Rapaic stole the show.
The Croatian international got his second of the match in the 35th minute and completed his hat trick just five minutes later to put his side up 4-0 at the break.
Mohammed Tchite made it 5-0 before Ibad Muhamudu got a consolation for Cercle in the 54th minute. Tchite added a second two minutes later and Sergei Kovalenko hit seven for Standard late on.
Zulte-Waregem - Racing Genk 1-0
Zulte-Waregem got an important result as they leapfrogged Genk into fourth place, just six points behind the top two, with a win on Saturday.
Tony Sergeant struck the game's only goal on the half-hour mark to secure victory for the home side and keep their European dream alive.
Westerlo - Roeselare 3-2
Westerlo found themselves trailing on 11 minutes as Wagneau Eloi put Roeselare in front, but Nico van Kerckhoven ensured they went to the break level with a goal just after the half-hour mark.
Christiaan Janssens fired Westerlo into the lead in the 59th minute only to see Björn Smits level for Roeselare nine minutes later.
Bernt Evens, though, would be the hero for the home side as he struck the match winner with 15 minutes to play.
Charleroi - Lierse 0-1
Bottom side Lierse, heavily marred in the ongoing match-fixing scandal in Belgian football, got a morale-boosting win over Charleroi away from home.
The only goal came from the penalty spot just before the half-time interval as Dragan Mrdja converted the spot kick to seal the points.
Lokeren - Sint-Truiden 1-2
Sint-Truiden, another team implicated in the scandal after an earlier match with La Louviere this season, were also victorious on the road on Saturday.
Runar Kristinsson put Lokeren in front just 15 minutes in, but Ilija Stolica equalized for the visitors, setting up Kris Buvens to score the winner in the 76th minute.
Gent - Excelsior Mouscron 0-0
Excelsior Mouscron, who just this week sacked their coach Paul Put as part of the scandal, held Gent to a goalless draw.
Gent dropped to seventh in the table with the result and Mouscron are not out of danger for relegation in 14th place.
Club Brugge - Beveren 1-0
Club Brugge went back to the summit on goal difference thanks to a narrow win over lowly Beveren on Sunday.
The lone goal was scored just 17 minutes as Kevin Roelandts put into the net for what would prove to be the match winner.
La Louviere - Germinal 1-1
Another scandal-hit club, La Louviere, played out a dramatic 1-1 draw with Germinal after trailing until late on.
Tosin Dusunmu put the visitors in front in the 58th minute and they were set to claim three points until Alexandre Lecomte struck in the dying moments to snatch a point for La Louviere.
