Larsson to join Helsingborg next season

16 February 2006 20:26

BARCELONA, Feb 16 (SW) - Swedish striker Henrik Larsson will return to his home nation to play next season, agreeing to a deal with former club Helsingborg for 18 months.

Larsson, who joined FC Barcelona from Celtic in the summer of 2004, could debut for the club when the Swedish Allsvenskan begins its new season in July. Larsson also briefly came out of international retirement to help Sweden qualify for the World Cup finals this summer.

Larsson had an injury-plagued first season at Camp Nou and has been limited in his number of appearances so far in this campaign, backing up star striker Samuel Eto'o.

After starting his career with Högaborg in Sweden, Larsson joined hometown side Helsingborg in 1992. He played two seasons there before joining Feyenoord in 1993. After four mediocre campaigns in Holland, Larsson moved to Celtic where he became a star in his seven seasons.

Larsson has nearly 300 goals in his profession career which spans over 500 games.
