Advocaat rules out Russian deal

10 February 2006 03:29

SEOUL, Feb 10 (SW) – South Korean national boss Dick Advocaat has quashed rumours that he has already agreed to take charge of the Russian national team after this year’s World Cup.

Rumours have linked the Russian officials with the appointment of a high profile foreign coach after the World Cup in Germany, with Dutchmen Advocaat and Guus Hiddink said to be high on the list of possible candidates.

Although he has denied that a deal has already been struck, the former Rangers manager did not rule out a move in the future.

"That's a rumour," said Advocaat regarding suggestions he has already signed a contract.

"Everyone knows that my contract with the Korea Football Association ends when the World Cup ends.

"Such a thing leads to these kinds of rumours and will do so in the future."
