SEVILLE, Dec 21 (SW) - Real Betis manager Javier Irureta resigned his post on Thursday, just a day after his side were winners over Gimnastic.
Irureta, who took control of the Seville-based side in June, has led them to just three victories so far this season, and the club sit third from bottom in the relegation zone.
Betis, who last season participated in the Champions League before struggling in La Liga, allowed Llorenc Serra Ferrer to depart for AEK Athens after last season, and then brought in the ex-Deportivo manager.
Irureta won a league title with the Galicians in 2000 and has coached several other teams within the Spanish ranks.
