28 August 2006 13:43

Luanda, Aug 28 (SW) - Yamba Asha has been recalled to the Angola squad for the first time since his nine-month ban for failing a doping test.

Asha missed this summers World Cup finals and the African Nations Cup finals earlier this year due to the ban he received from FIFA.

The 30 year old recently joined Swedish club, Oster from AS Aviacao and had played an important role in Angola’s World Cup qualifying matches.

"Yamba is a player with great passing skills and commendable defensive and offensive qualities," said Oster’s director Ola Ryden.

Former Captain Akwa and goalkeeper Joao Ricardo both featured in Angola’s World Cup squad, but have not been included in the team that will face Swaiziland in an Africans Nations qualifier.
